Ultrasound Cavitation

Ultrasound Cavitation is heating the fat with tripolar ultrasound for larger areas such as the stomach and love handles, thighs, hips etc. Many less sophisticated Lipo devices use diode lasers as the medium to remove fat but they are dependent on significant immediate exercise to achieve results and for most of us this is where the problem lies. Ultrasound Cavitation is a natural phenomenon which sends a pressurised wave to fat cells which cannot withstand the pressure and hence disintegrate into a liquid form. Once liquefied, the fat drains naturally from the cell and passes through the lymphatic system, leaving the body through its normal metabolic process. Drinking extra fluids aids this process.

Ultrasound Cavitation is one of the most effective cellulite and fat loss techniques available, furthermore there is no requirement to exercise post treatment in order to obtain results. In Europe and The United States, the numbers of surgical liposuction procedures is fast being replaced with Cavitation based treatments delivering excellent results without the need for surgery.

Cryolipolysis

CRYOLIPOLYSIS - or CRYO - is designed to “freeze” the fat and is a one hour, no fuss, no muss, fat-cell-destroyer that requires neither healing time nor a single stitch-or even say, the formality of alerting one’s spouse to the fact that you are having something done.

During a Cryo session, a moulded cup is fitted over the stomach, love handles, back fat or bingo wings for example; heavy duty suction pulls the pudge inside the cup where it’s chilled to -4 C. Some of the fat cells are destroyed and ultimately disposed off by the liver, a process that can take up to 3-4 months. A minimum of 25% reduction in fat cells that fit inside the cup is achieved.

We know from scientific evidence that heating the deeper dermis, to a constant 55-65°c coupled with a regulated radio pulse stimulates fibroblast action (fibroblasts are the connective tissue cells that produce collagen and elastin). In turn, this increase the synthesis of new collagen and elastin fibres.This tightens the skin’s appearance and can also help to create a lifting effect. Radiofrequency is also effective in improving the appearance of stretch marks.

Indications for the Cavitation procedure

Effect of the Cavitation procedure

Recommendations for the Cavitation session

• it is recommended not to consume alcohol for 5 days after treatment
• During the procedure it is recommended to drink 1.5 litres of water per day to enable the fat to be flushed though.

Contraindications

• pregnancy and lactation
• chronic liver disease, hepatitis
• kidney disease, renal failure, active kidney stones
• disorders of the immune system
• patients with pacemakers
• active history of DVT
• patients on warfarin (or other anticoagulants)
• broken skin in the area of the procedure
• insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
• uncontrolled epilepsy
• patients on active treatment for cancer

Non-surgical liposuction is not recommended in patients liver problems.

The procedure is an approved fat reduction technique that uses cold temperature in order to eliminate the fat layers in specific areas of your body. It is non-invasive, requiring no surgery or recovery time. The most widely displayed side-effect is some short-term desensitization in the area where the procedure is done.

How does it Work?

The process is actually rather simple. The machine is used to essentially suck a portion of your skin, and the fat beneath it, into a moulded cup, which simultaneously cools both the skin and the fat to a temperature that is safe for the skin, but destroys the fat beneath it. 30% of the fat cells that are pulled into the mould are destroyed permanently and eliminated safely out of your system.

When will I notice the results?

You will notice nothing at all initially. The process of fat reduction kicks in at around a month later BUT carries on working for up to 6 months after the session

Side-Effects

The procedure is a non-invasive method of reducing abdomen fat and therefore cryolipolysis (or Cryo) has minimal side-effects. Cryolipolysis is relatively harmless with the most common side effects reported as being redness and swelling in the treated area. This is relatively short lived lasting from a few hours to a list of side-effects that have been reported both in scientific studies, and in reviews.

What is Radio Frequency Treatment?

Radio Frequency Treatment is a non-invasive treatment which uses radio waves directed through a probe head which is rested onto the skin. The radio waves emit energy, directed at the skin to produce a heating effect. Radio Frequency Treatment has been used for many decades for a variety of medical applications.

How does Radio Frequency Treatment work?

The beam of Radio Frequency will target deeper layers of skin, heating them up. This creates stimulation of the skin and in particular, fibroblasts (fibroblasts are the connective tissue cells that produce collagen and elastin), a substance which gives elasticity to the skin. The radio frequencies cause water molecules in the deeper layers of skin to vibrate. This in turn creates friction which causes the heating effect. When heat is applied to collagen fibres, they shrink and tighten up, and over time following the treatment, new collagen also forms.

What will it achieve?

The treatment can be used on any part of the body to tighten any loose and sagging skin. It is also suitable for any age group. After treatment the skin contours more to the body as it has tightened up and it will also become rejuvenated, being younger and fresher in appearance. It is effectively used on areas of the face and neck, the breasts and tummy (stretch marks), and upper arms and thighs. But it can be used on any part of the body that requires the skin to be firmed. It is an appropriate treatment for the face because the ageing process sees a reduction in the amount of fat, particularly on the cheeks. Instead of plumping out the tissues (the outcome of filler treatments), it simply aims to tighten up the sagging skin in areas such as the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and jowls.

What about after the Treatment?

The great news is that there is no recovery time, no healing scars, no anaesthetic required and little or no discomfort during or after the treatment. All that may be noticed is a slight reddening of the skin for about one day. The collagen tightening occurs at the actual time of treatment but new collagen is also stimulated to form for up to a month after the treatment. The treatment is long lasting and many people find that it is effective for up to a year (face and neck) depending on individual ageing processes. To be effective, most doctors will advise 4-8 sessions of treatment, depending on the area to be treated and the amount of loose skin to be corrected. Each treatment lasts 30-50 mins depending on the area being treated. As the treatment regime continues the improvement is cumulative giving excellent results. Combined with Cavitation and Cryo it is an excellent way to tighten the skin after fat loss
